Kiến Tạo Sử
A strategy game of Vietnamese history. Lead Việt Nam through more than 2,700 years, from Văn Lang to 2026: follow the true chronicle, or rewrite it.
Free, in your browser on computer and phone. Nothing to install, no account needed.
The map runs year by year, on any device
The map builds real mountains and rivers from satellite data and divides the land into regions from Việt Bắc and the Red River to Gia Định, even the Paracel and Spratly Islands. Pause whenever you like to give orders, or fast-forward 4, 8, 16, 32 or 64 times.

Four steps from Văn Lang to 2026
Begin in Văn Lang
Press Play now. You receive Văn Lang in 700 BCE with three regions around the Red, Mã and Cả rivers. The tutorial shows you each region, army and panel on the map; you can skip it.
Pause and give orders
Tap a region to build or raise troops, set national policies and the tax rate, then press Resume. Orders take effect the next year.
Decide at every event
The game stops by itself at an event, a milestone or a battle. Read the situation, then choose a path or a tactic.
Make it to 2026
When the run ends you receive your prosperity score, your history score, the achievements you earned and a comparison of your country with real history.
What you will do in a run

Build the country on the map
Choose national policies, set taxes, build fields and dikes, ramparts and schools; raise troops, appoint generals, keep the people fed.

Battles with stratagems
Pick the tactic that suits the terrain: ambush, naval battle, guerrilla war, scorched earth, lightning march.

Follow history or branch off
At every major milestone, follow the chronicle or do something different. Each turn leads to one of 20 endings.

The Court
Farming, drills, learning, land clearing, peace: policies for the whole country.

Pentatonic music
Your browser composes each phrase itself, with slides like the đàn bầu. War makes it faster, with drums.

Achievements and the final score
Prosperity score, history score, achievements, and a comparison of your country with the real Việt Nam.
The milestones you will pass
Each milestone is an event, a battle, a choice: follow history, or branch off.

Frequently asked questions
Does the game cost money?
No. Kiến Tạo Sử is free and runs right in your browser, with nothing to install.
Can I play on a phone?
Yes. On a small screen the map fills the screen and the panels open from the bottom bar. On a computer there are also shortcuts: space to pause, 1 to 6 to change speed, M to toggle music.
Will it run on a weak device?
The map runs on WebGL, available on most recent computers and phones (Chrome, Safari 16.4 or later, a recent Firefox). The first load takes a few seconds to fetch the map. The game checks your device before starting: if it cannot draw the map you are told right away, because there is no fallback map.
Where is my run saved?
In the browser you are using. The run saves itself as you play; next time, press “Continue saved run”. If you clear the site's data, play in a private window or open the game on another device, you will not see the old run.
Do I need an account?
Not at all: just press Play now. Sign in (with e-mail, a password or Google) when you want to keep your results, appear on the leaderboard and post on the forum; runs already played on this device are attached to your account. A run in progress stays in the browser and cannot move to another device yet.
Does it follow real history?
The milestones, battles and historical stratagems follow the chronicle. Between milestones, everything depends on how you rule. When you choose differently from history, what follows is alternate history, and the deviation shows how far you have gone.
